Funding and project duration

  • Budget: A minimum of € 10,000,- per seed-fund. Depending on the results of our fundraising campaigns, this amount may be increased or multiple seed-funds may be deployed per theme.
  • Duration: Projects have a duration of 6 to 24 months. In case of successful pilot results, there is an opportunity for scaling up.

Eligibility and assessment criteria

Applications are assessed by our Scientific Advisory Committee. Project proposals must meet the following criteria:

  1. Scientific Basis: A clear problem definition and a strong scientific substantiation.
  2. Feasibility: A fully developed work package including a timeline, budget (with co-funding, if applicable), and deliverables.
  3. Expertise: Relevant expertise within the research team.
  4. Ethical Assurance: Where applicable, prior approval from a recognised Medical Ethics Review Committee (METC) or animal welfare committee is required.

How to apply

Researchers are invited to submit a pre-proposal or a full proposal. Your application must consist of:

  • The project plan (maximum 6–10 pages)
  • The timeline and intended deliverables
  • A detailed budget
  • The CV's of the core researchers
  • The ethical status of the research

Consortium projects, multicentre studies, and projects involving active patient participation are preferred.
